About Jasmine Barber
My name is Jasmine Barber, and I am on a mission to help single moms connect to resources that make money stretch, stabilize personal finances and secure long term economic well-being for themselves and their children.
My life path has led me to create Money Savvy Single Mom.
In college I loved to study how microeconomic and macroeconomic systems worked together to lift families out of poverty. I became fascinated with grassroots economic development strategies.
Later, I endured the agony of a financially abusive marriage and becoming a single mom trying to recover from shattered finances while doing the best I could to provide for my wonderful children.
I was able to get help, learn from my experiences and gather valuable resources and personal finance strategies that helped me to survive and create my own path of sustainable economic well-being.
I now want to share what I have learned with you so that you do not have to struggle as much as I have. We are in this together!

I am a self-proclaimed dream maker and an advocate for small business owners and mompreneurs. I take pride in understanding the needs of business owners and connecting entrepreneurs with their passion and the resources necessary to move their dreams and businesses forward.
I am gifted
with a mind for strategy and innovation.
I love finding creative ways of “making a way out of no way” and
bringing creative freedom to others.
I hold a Master’s in Business Administration with a focus on Business
Intelligence from Capella University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in
economics with a minor in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
Most of my professional work has been in geographic information systems, construction
management, and civil engineering. I am also a sought-after speaker on
geo-marketing development for high-return marketing initiatives and an
in-demand executive management consultant.
One of my greatest accomplishments was winning the Association for Enterprise
Opportunity (AEO) Power of One Award for Sustaining Business Entrepreneur. In
collaboration with Citi Foundation, AEO recognized microbusiness owners in
Pittsburgh, PA, who had a positive impact on their family and community. A previous business of mine placed first out of three finalists
and received $15,000 to expand operations.
I also spearheaded the microbusiness development initiative of a $1 million program to conduct business development training and build resilience within low-wealth neighborhoods in the City of Pittsburgh.
Besides being the Founder of Money Savvy Single Mom, I have two main entrepreneurial ventures including CEO of Alerio Management Group LLC (business management consulting) and Owner of Jasmine Annette Company (a luxury artisan craft company).
I have built these businesses while recovering from divorce and trauma from an abusive marriage. As a single mom of three adventurous boys, I enjoy subsistence home gardening, Ancient Egyptian Yoga, Kemetic philosophy, healing arts therapy, Afro-Caribbean dance, and Ayurvedic living.
